Springfield, IL (CAPITOL CITY NOW) – A Springfield woman was found dead, and in what Sangamon County Coroner Jim Allmon says was in an “advanced state of decomposition.”

Allmon said Nancy Corbin, 65, was pronounced dead Wednesday inside a shed in the 1100 block of North 11th Street in Springfield.  The location is not far from the former Pillsbury Plant, and near the intersection of 11th and Division Streets.

Allmon said Corbin’s body was found in a waste container inside the shed.  An autopsy Thursday “scientifically identified” Corbin, but the official cause of death needs more investigation.  The death remains under investigation.

Meanwhile, Sangamon County Jail records indicate police arrested Adam Dale Corbin, 69, and was booked into the jail Wednesday on charges of Possession of a Weapon by a Convicted Felon, Abuse of a Corpse, and Concealment of a Homicidal Death.  Capitol City Now attempted to contact Springfield Police to ask about the arrest and did not receive a response.  Court records do not indicate formal charges being filed as of Thursday afternoon.
