Springfield, IL (CAPITOL CITY NOW) – The Chicago White Sox have not been big winners on the field in some time, but they are by far kings of the road – that is, when you count license plates.

With almost 37,000 drivers choosing to show their South Side allegiance on their bumpers, the Sox have more than twice as many as the Blackhawks‘ 16,569. The Cubs and Bears are the only other teams with more than 10,000 license plates, followed by the Bulls and the St. Louis Cardinals.

You can also get a license plate for your favorite college. University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign is Number One, with more than 6,600. Only fifty motorists have UIS plates. Notre Dame and Illinois State are the only other college plates with more than 1,000.

At the other end of the spectrum: Concordia University with 25 and Malcolm X University with 18.
