Springfield, IL (CAPITOL CITY NOW) – Mother Nature has not played nicely over the past 24 hours, and really, the last several days.

Mild temperatures since around Christmas caused days of patchy and dense fog across most of Illinois.  Then, Sunday, central Illinois saw an outbreak of severe weather.

According to storm reports from the National Weather Service in Lincoln, there were two rounds of severe weather — one caused some potential touchdowns in the Peoria area.  Then, in the afternoon, at least two tornadoes were reported in Macon County, and near the Macon-Christian County lines.

One close to Decatur caused some damage to homes and garages in that area.  Another touched down near Blue Mound, also causing damage.  Forecasters will be out surveying damage Monday.

Then, a dramatic return to cold weather.  Temperatures Sunday evening and Monday morning dropped about 50 degrees.  After temperatures were as low as 14 at 6 a.m. Monday, a Wind Advisory is in effect through late afternoon, making it feel colder.

Highs will return to above the freezing mark Tuesday.
