TAYLORVILLE, Ill. (CAPITOL CITY NOW) – Police in Taylorville say a man has been arrested for allegedly sexually assaulting a minor at the local YMCA.

Shane W. Ross, 37, was recently arrested and appeared in court Wednesday on two counts of Predatory Criminal Sexual Assault of a Child.

Police don’t say specifically when Ross may have assaulted a child at the Christian County Y, but court records say he will remain in custody after being deemed a real and present threat.

“The national office of the YMCA organization sent out a release and has expressed that the safety, protection, and well-being of children remain its highest priorities,” said Taylorville Police, in a social media post.  “YMCA officials stated they are deeply troubled by the reported incident involving now-former members in a family restroom and will continue cooperating with law enforcement throughout the investigation.”

Ross will be back in court November 17.
