Suspect wanted in bar burglary

Springfield, IL (CAPITOL CITY NOW) – The Sangamon County Sheriff’s Department is asking for your help in finding the man they believe stole from a bar in unincorporated Springfield earlier this week.

According to a news release, deputies say they are looking for Ethan Atwood, 61.  An arrest warrant charges him with Burglary and Criminal Damage to Property.  Atwood has not been located yet, and authorities are asking for your help determining his whereabouts.

Sheriff’s Deputies responded to Penny Bar, 2815 S. Price Ave., around 4:30 a.m. Wednesday, December 10th.  Surveillance video from the video gaming machine operators shows a man forcing entry, damaging at least two gaming machines, in an attempt to get the cash boxes from them.

Atwood, authorities claim in a news release, “has a history of 27 prior arrests, including offenses related to assault, theft and burglary, drugs, weapons, criminal damage, and traffic violations.”
