Springfield Police receives $56,000 for overtime, $3 million for co-responder program

Springfield, IL (WAND) – More money is on the way for the Springfield Police Department.

Springfield City Council voted Tuesday night to approve an IDOT grant for traffic enforcement, with the $56,000 covering officers’ overtime.

Council also approved nearly $3 million covering an Illinois Criminal Justice Information Authority (ICJIA) grant.

That money will go towards SPD’s co-responder program.
