UPDATE: Springfield Police investigate shooting death; 1 arrested on unrelated charges

UPDATED 4:54 P.M.

Springfield, IL (CAPITOL CITY NOW) – A man is dead after a shooting early Monday morning in Springfield.

Springfield Police say it happened around 5:45 a.m. Monday in the 1200 block of East Kansas.

Sangamon County Coroner Jim Allmon says Sean Campbell, 54, was pronounced dead at the scene, and a Monday afternoon autopsy confirms he died from a gunshot wound.

Police say another identified as a suspect was arrested on unrelated charges and taken to the Sangamon County Jail.

Names are not yet being released, and police say they’re still investigating.
