Springfield, IL (CAPITOL CITY NOW) – A Springfield-based insurance agency operating since the late-1800’s has acquired another local insurance agency.

According to a news release, Troxell said it acquired Denton-Merritt-Dycus as of June 1. Troxell started in 1887, while Denton-Merritt-Dycus has been in operation for more than six decades.

“This acquisition is part of a broader effort to grow intentionally while staying true to who we are,” said Todd Sowle, Troxell CEO, in a news release. “Denton-Merritt-Dycus has built something special over the past 60 years. Their commitment to relationships, service, and community mirrors our own, and we’re proud to welcome their clients and team to Troxell as we continue to build for the future.

The news release says Dave Merritt will remain involved, and John Merritt while serve as a primary point of contact, joining Troxell as an agent.

“Choosing the right partner was important to use,” said Dave Merritt. “We’re confident our clients will benefit from the additional resources while continuing to receive the personal service they expect.”

Troxell says the Denton-Merritt-Dycus clients will be able to have access to their team, along with additional service offerings.

In the last year, Troxell expanded into Decatur with an office there, along with the purchase the former Land of Lincoln Credit Union building on South Grand Avenue West in Springfield.
