UPDATE:  Man dead after being shot prior to car crash

UPDATED: 4:52pm

Springfield, IL (CAPITOL CITY NOW) – Springfield police report a homicide investigation. A news release says Leslie Broomfield, 19, Springfield, died at a local hospital after being found with gunshot wounds in a vehicle which had crashed around 10:45 p.m. Friday into a garage in the 2400 block of South 13th Street.

Broomfield died about an hour later. An autopsy done Monday by Sangamon County Coroner Jim Allmon revealed preliminary results suggesting death was due to multiple gunshot wounds.

The investigation continues.
