Semi driver injured after crash near Williamsville

Williamsville, IL (CAPITOL CITY NOW) – One person was injured Saturday after the semi he was operating crashed on Interstate 55.

Illinois State Police say the accident happened prior to 7:30 a.m. Saturday in the southbound lanes of Interstate 55 at Exit 109 in Williamsville.

Troopers say what they described as a “truck tractor semi-trailer” struck a concrete barrier for unknown reasons then caught fire.

The driver was taken to a hospital with unknown injuries.

I-55 was closed for several hours for clean-up and injuries.

It’s not clear if any citations were issued.
