Springfield, IL (WAND) –  Sen. Sally Turner was named the 2025 Legislator of the Year by the Illinois Association of County Veterans Assistance Commissions Monday night.

The Illinois Senate Republican Caucus said in a press release that Turner received the award at the IACVAC’s annual banquet in recognition of her leadership and advocation for Illinois veterans.

IACVAC cited Turner’s legislative work, particularly Senate Bill 39 which made veteran housing more affordable, that improves the lives of veterans statewide, according to the release.

Receiving this award from the County Veterans Assistance Commissions is truly an honor. Our VACs are on the front lines serving veterans and their families, connecting them to care, benefits and support. I am grateful for their work and proud to partner with them to remove barriers and deliver results,” Turner said in a statement via the release.
