Springfield, IL (CAPITOL CITY NOW) – The planned Legends Entertainment Center near the new Scheel’s Sports Park is coming closer to reality.

Michelle Ownbey, publisher of the Springfield Business Journal, tells the WTAX Morning Newswatch the plans included five eateries, and we now know what those five will be.

“Very familiar names:  Taco Gringo, Sapori Pizzeria, Wellthy Juice Company, The Vanilla Bean, and one called Sliders,” said Ownbey.  “That’s the only one that doesn’t have an existing restaurant by the same name.  But, Sliders is a collaboration with Will Hoecker and Omar Romero.  Those are the same guys that have done Brickhouse, Cousin Eddie’s, and Papo’s Café.”

However, not everything is going according to plan right now, said Ownbey.

“Ben Call, who is one of the developers of Legends, told me that things are a little behind schedule, unfortunately,” said Ownbey.  “We’ve had a tremendous amount of snow, and some really frigid temperatures, which has not been good for the construction they are trying to get done.”

Nevertheless, Ownbey says, the owners, associated with The Real Estate Group, are optimistic they can pick up some of that lost time.

The complex will include adult video gaming, a kids’ arcade, a bowling alley, and other things.
