Decatur, IL (CAPITOL CITY NOW) – Gov. JB Pritzker (pictured) is planning a tour of storm-damaged parts of central and southern Illinois, but “what I don’t want to do is interfere with the recovery,” he said. “I’ve been careful to talk to local officials about when is it sort of clear enough, so I don’t disrupt anything that’s ongoing.”

Expecting to ask for a federal disaster declaration, Pritzker said, “FEMA’s a mess.” And that’s not the only shot he took at President Trump Monday in Decatur.

Responding to Trump’s latest threats to return federal troops to Chicago after a weekend of violence, Pritzker said the President has no credibility here: “This is the president that thought he could hire an unqualified company to paint the Reflecting Pool, and then thought it would be free of algae, and yet days later it turned into an algae sea.”

Pritzker visited ADM Monday for an economic development announcement.
