Police:  Man arrested for death of woman found in shed’s waste container

Springfield, IL (CAPITOL CITY NOW) – Springfield Police are now confirming that a man has been arrested for the death of a woman with the same last name.

Springfield Police said Friday Adam Corbin, 69, was arrested and taken to the Sangamon County Jail on charges of Concealment of a Death, and Abuse of a Corpse.

Police say officers went to a home in the 1100 block of North 11th Street around 4:00 p.m. Tuesday for a welfare check, after it was believed that Nancy Corbin, 65, had not been seen for some time.

Nancy Corbin’s body was found in a waste container inside a fence, as confirmed Thursday by Sangamon County Coroner Jim Allmon, who said the cause of death needed further investigation after a preliminary autopsy.  Allmon said Nancy Corbin’s body was found in an “advanced state of decomposition,” and that her identity was confirmed through scientific identification.

As of Friday afternoon, online court records did not have any sort of case filed against Adam Corbin.  It’s not clear when he would make a court appearance.

The relationship between Nancy Corbin and Adam Corbin isn’t clear.
