SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (WAND) – One man has been arrested after a crash in Springfield over the weekend that killed an Athens man and seriously injured two others.

According to the Sangamon County Sheriff’s Office, 22-year-old Ethan Harbour was drunk and speeding when he crashed into an SUV around 3 a.m. Sunday near the intersection of North 11th and East Madison Street.

That is down the street from HSHS St. John’s Hospital.

The Sangamon County Coroner said 21-year-old Sean Clark, who was a passenger in Harbour’s vehicle, died at the scene. An autopsy found Clark died from several blunt force injuries suffered in the crash.

A police report stated that Harbour’s blood alcohol level was .215, which is nearly three times the legal limit.

The Sheriff’s Office added that another of Harbour’s passengers and the driver of the other vehicle are in the hospital with life-threatening injuries.

The death remains under investigation.
