UPDATED 7:47am

Springfield, IL (CAPITOL CITY NOW) – Three people were shot — and one of them was killed — Monday evening on Springfield’s Southeast side.

Springfield Police say it happened on South 14th Street, near the intersection with Cornell Avenue, at approximately 5:50 p.m. Two of those shot were hospitalized and suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

The third died at an area hospital.  Sangamon County Coroner Jim Allmon’s office says he’s an 18-year-old from Rochester.  The victim’s name will be released after a planned autopsy, and once next of kin have been notified.  The teen was pronounced dead about an hour after the shooting was reported.

Anyone who saw what happened can call Springfield Police or Sangamon and Menard County Crime Stoppers.  The investigation is continuing.
