(CAPITOL CITY NOW) – Goodbye, Intersect Illinois. Hello, Illinois Economic Development Corporation.

Christy George, president and CEO of the public-private partnership, says this is more than a name change.

“We are spending more time focusing on businesses that are here in Illinois and making sure that we understand their needs and priorities,” said George. “There are so many businesses that are here in the state that are considering growth, that are considering expansion, and we want them to do that here in our state.”

With organizations such as the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity and – obviously – the governor’s office, where does one group end and another begin?

George said the EDC and DCEO work “in lockstep,” with EDC involved in “lead generation” and “pitching companies,” with DCEO more involved with incentives.

The EDC’s annual report is here.
