(CAPITOL CITY NOW) – Gov. JB Pritzker’s war on the Trump administration continues.

A new law broadly shields Illinoisans from federal immigration enforcement in schools, hospitals, day care centers, and other places.

Pritzker said ICE agents are “terrorizing” communities.

“This is not about public safety,” Pritzker said before signing the bill into law Tuesday. “In a list of arrested individuals in the Chicago area made public, only 2.6 percent or sixteen out of the over 600 names listed were considered to be high public safety risks by the federal government.”

Pritzker brushed off a suggestion that the supermajority Democrats are exaggerating.

House Speaker Emanuel “Chris” Welch (D-Hillside) said when President Trump was re-inaugurated in January, he could only imagine what could happen, adding it now includes pregnant women handcuffed to their beds.

State Sen. Omar Aquino (D-Chicago) said his relatives are all U.S. citizens, yet they feel compelled to have their citizenship papers on them when they leave the house.
