Springfield, IL (CAPITOL CITY NOW) – Springfield Memorial Hospital was just ranked number 21 out of 213 hospitals in Illinois by U.S. News.

They ranked very highly in nine total specialty services. Those specialty services are cancer treatment, cardiology heart and vascular, gastroenterology, GI and colon surgery, neurology, obstetrics and genecology, orthopedics, lung cancer surgery and prostate cancer surgery.

When it comes to hoping for good bedside manner as well as innovative technology, they of course ranked highly in that category as well.

“It’s validation of our work, the technology and the effort we put in to ensure that every patient every time gets the best care out of us” Stated Jay Roszhart (ROSE-heart), President and CEO of Springfield Memorial. Roszhart spoke on the WTAX Morning Newswatch and also said “To our community it means you can trust us. It means that we are working hard every single day and sometimes in really challenging environments to do the best we can. We are continually improving to make care better for our community and the patients we serve.”

U.S. News looks at a number of things to make these decisions on how they rank hospitals, with the most important being outcome. What is the outcome of surgeries, how many people live happy and healthy lives after visiting. They also look at process, such as procedures and how they provide care, is it the best standard of care for treatment? Finally, they look at structure. Does the facility have the best technology, the right number of staff, and do they have all of the resources to provide the best care possible.

So, if you are looking for a specialty care facility, make sure you choose one of the best. Springfield Memorial Hospital. They work hard every day to ensure that every patient gets everything they need, and will always continue to strive to be better, even though they are amongst the best already.
