Springfield, IL (CAPITOL CITY NOW) – A Chicago native who was atop the entertainment world in the early 1980’s is now a Hall of Famer.

Mr. T (pictured), best known for his roles in The A-Team and Rocky III, has been inducted into the Illinois Broadcasters Association Hall of Fame.

With reporters prior to Monday’s event, T said he did not let fame go to his head. “Everybody would try to stroke me and say, you the man, you the man. I would say, no, I’m not the man. I’m not the man,” said T. “I would tell people after every event, whatever I do, I’ve got to go home and take a shower. Not because I was dirty or whatnot. I wanted to go home and take a shower to wash all the adulation off of me.”

T wears his Christianity on his sleeve. “Very few people will say, hey, that Mr. T – he really trained, he prepared himself. He listened to his mother, he loved his mother,” said T. “They won’t say that. They’ll just say he got lucky. They won’t say I trained. I don’t believe in luck. I’m a Christian.”
