Man out on pretrial release arrested after home shot up in Jacksonville

Jacksonville, IL (WAND) – A man has been arrested after a home was shot up in Jacksonville Monday night.

An adult and a 17-year-old were both inside the house in the 300 block of W. Beecher Ave. when it was shot at multiple times around 8:23 p.m.

No one was hurt in the shooting.

On Tuesday at 4:04 a.m., a Jacksonville police officer conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle in the 800 block of N. Clay Ave. Quantorius J. Courtney was the driver. During the stop, police said he ran away on foot. Courtney was quickly caught and placed under arrest. A loaded handgun was found in the vehicle, and it was later found to be reported stolen.

Quantorius was taken to the Morgan County Jail where he was cited for Armed Habitual Criminal, Unlawful Possession of a Weapon by a Felon, Aggravated Unlawful Use of a Weapon, Possession of a Stolen Firearm, Obstructing a Peace Officer, Resisting a Peace Officer, Illegal Transportation of Alcohol.

Courtney was also cited for Operating Uninsured Vehicle and Improper Turn Signal.

Courtney was currently out on Pretrial release stemming from a prior weapons arrest. He was previously charged for Unlawful Possession of Weapon by Felon and Armed Habitual Criminal as a result of an arrest in Morgan County from August 2024.

He is now in the custody of the Morgan County Jail waiting to appear before the court.
