Springfield, IL (CAPITOL CITY NOW) – A Springfield man is dead after being found Thursday morning in the area of a road construction site.

According to Sangamon County Coroner Jim Allmon, the 66-year-old man was found in the area of the 1000 block of North Grand Avenue East.  He was pronounced dead at the scene around 8:15 a.m.

No other information was released, including the man’s name, pending next of kin.  An autopsy is planned for later Thursday.

Allmon’s office and Springfield Police are continuing to investigate.
