Springfield, IL (CAPITOL CITY NOW) – Springfield Police say they have arrested a man who allegedly stabbed an Uber driver and stole his vehicle more than a month ago.

According to a news release Monday, Springfield Police and U.S. Marshals arrested Hezekiah Glenn, 24, December 9.  He’s in the Sangamon County Jail facing charges of Aggravated Vehicular Hijacking and Armed Robbery, Class X felonies, and Aggravated Battery, a Class 3 felony.

Police say the incident started November 11 at Durkin Drive and Lawrence Avenue.  The Uber driver claimed as he was taking who allegedly turned out to be Glenn to his destination, he was injured with a sharp-edged object and the vehicle was stolen.

The victim’s injuries are said to be non-life-threatening.

Further investigation, police say, led to an arrest warrant being issued for Glenn.

According to court records, a judge last Wednesday granted Glenn a public defender, and approved a petition to deny pre-trial release.  Glenn is scheduled to be back in court Thursday, December 18, for a pre-trial hearing.
