Springfield, IL (CAPITOL CITY NOW) – A longtime popular musical act, and the author of a popular book that became a longtime popular television series are the two latest additions to this season’s lineup at the University of Illinois Springfield Performing Arts Center (UIS PAC).

The center announced Tuesday that KC and the Sunshine Band will perform at the center Friday, September 25.  Tickets for the general public will go on sale this Friday, July 24, but the “FRIENDS of UIS Performing Arts Center ” get a presale opportunity starting Wednesday, July 22.

“Led by Harry Wayne ‘KC’ Casey, the band has sold more than 100 million records worldwide and continues to deliver the infectious energy and feel-good music that helped define an era. Fans can expect an unforgettable evening filled with classic disco, funk, pop, and nonstop dancing,” said a news release.

Listeners to the WTAX Morning Newswatch will have chances to win pairs of tickets starting Wednesday, July 22.

Meanwhile, UIS PAC says Candace Bushnell will bring a one-woman show to the center Saturday, November 7.  Tickets also go on sale Friday, July 24, and “FRIENDS” members will get a presale opportunity starting Wednesday, July 22.

Bushnell is the author of the book Sex and the City, which later turned into a popular series of movies and HBO programs.

“Filled with humor, wit, and candid storytelling, Bushnell shares her unique perspective on love, friendship, dating, and modern relationships while taking audiences behind the scenes of the cultural phenomenon she created,” said a news release.  “Following the performance, a limited number of fans will have the opportunity to meet Candace Bushnell during an exclusive post-show meet-and-greet. Meet-and-greet tickets are available for an additional fee and must be purchased in advance. Availability is limited.”
