Illinois State Police, in a news release, say Jacksonville police asked for assistance with a barricaded gunman who reportedly fired shots during a domestic disturbance. ISP resources included crisis negotiators and SWAT officers. No injuries are reported.

No injuries are reported after a ten-hour standoff in Jacksonville. WAND Tee Vee reports a man surrendered around 11:30 Friday morning. State police said a man with a gun was barricaded alone in a home in the 700 block of Park Street. Because of the proximity to Jacksonville Middle School, class was cancelled there today. Police on the scene included a SWAT team.

The incident which has led to the closure of Jacksonville Middle School Friday is reported as a standoff with a barricaded individual in a neighborhood behind the school. WAND-TV reports it started around 1:30 a.m. and now involves the Illinois State Police SWAT team. People are advised to avoid the area, including Hoagland Blvd., Park St., and Daly Dr.
