Jacksonville man charged with seven burglaries — most on April Fool’s Day

Jacksonville, IL (CAPITOL CITY NOW) – A Jacksonville man is accused of committing a half-dozen break-ins throughout the city Wednesday, and one more from mid-January.

According to a news release, Jacksonville Police say one of the burglaries Wednesday led to the reporting of six more, and video surveillance helped pin Miles Pelechowski, 30, to the others.

They say when the man was caught Wednesday night, he also gave information leading the information about a break-in from mid-January.

He’s jailed on seven felony counts of burglary, and one count of criminal damage to property.

The break-ins happened at:

  • 1300 block of West Walnut Street
  • 200 block of South Mauvaisterre Street
  • 200 block of Sandy Street
  • 500 block of North Main Street
  • 200 block of West Morgan Street (2)
  • 300 block of West State Street (1/13/26)

“The Jacksonville Police Department urges anyone with any information in any of the recent Burglary reports please contact the JPD Investigative Division or Crime Stoppers of Morgan, Scott and Cass Counties (217-243-7300),” said a news release.
