Washington, DC (CHAMBANA TODAY) – The House passed legislation Wednesday that would allow year-round sales of E15 ethanol fuel nationwide, with Congresswoman Nikki Budzinski serving as a Democratic lead on the bill.

H.R. 1346, the Nationwide Consumer and Fuel Retailer Choice Act, would eliminate an existing regulation that restricts E15 sales during summer months. Supporters say the change would expand consumer fuel choices, strengthen domestic energy production, and provide more certainty for agricultural producers. The bill now heads to the Senate.

“For years, I’ve championed permanent, year-round E15 as a win for American farmers, energy producers, and consumers,” Budzinski said. “At a time when farmers are under pressure and families are feeling the strain of high gas prices, this legislation delivers much needed relief.”

Budzinski has advocated for year-round E15 sales since taking office, joining bipartisan letters urging House leadership to act, testifying before the House Rules Committee, and co-leading an amendment to include the policy in the 2026 Farm Bill. Nearly 100 House Democrats joined her in supporting the bill’s passage.

“Today’s bipartisan action shows what’s possible when we put American energy, rural communities, and working families first,” she said. “I urge the Senate to quickly pass this bill and get relief to the American people.”
