Springfield, IL (CAPITOL CITY NOW) – A horse died as the result of an accident at the Illinois State Fair.

Fair officials say a horse during harness racing at the fair Wednesday got loose from a rider and jumped a fence.

Illinois Department of Agriculture staff and other racers responded quickly to try and help, but the horse later died.

Officials say no fairgoers were hurt.
