Farm to freeway: Produce spill covers I-55 in Sangamon County

Springfield, IL (WAND) – Some Central Illinois drivers came across a saucy situation on their morning commute.

The Illinois Department of Transportation reported a produce spill on I-55 in Sangamon County on Monday.

An IDOT photo posted to Facebook showed tomatoes scattered all over the highway with a pile of crumpled produce boxes in the background.

IDOT said no one was injured, aside from the “pasta-ready tomatoes.”
