ROCHESTER, Ill. (CAPITOL CITY NOW) – Investigators say a domestic battery investigation led to the alleged discovery this week of 18 guns in one home, along with some drugs.

The Sangamon County Sheriffs Department says it started Sunday evening around 6:30 p.m. at a home on Lake Services Road in Rochester.

Larry Gillespie, 39, was originally arrested for domestic battery; but a later searched turned up 18 guns, including two fully automatic machine guns, at least one gun with a scratched-off serial number, cannabis, other guns, and drug-related items.

Gillespie — whom deputies claim has four prior felony convictions in the last almost 20 years — now also faces charges of possession of a weapon by a felon.

Gillespie is jailed and it’s not yet clear when he’ll be in court.
