Decatur man jailed on murder charges for shooting death of teen

Decatur, IL (CAPITOL CITY NOW) – A Decatur teenager is dead, and another is preliminarily charged with murder.

According to our news partners at WAND-TV, Nehemiah Myers, 18, is in the Macon County Jail on charges of First-Degree Murder, at least until he can make a first appearance in court.

Police were called late Friday night to a shooting at a business near Wood and Jasper Streets.

A 17-year-old boy was shot, taken to the hospital, and later died.  His name has not been released.

Police say search warrants were executed at two Decatur homes, leading to Myers’ arrest.

They want anyone with information to call police or Crime Stoppers.
