Springfield, IL (CAPITOL CITY NOW) – This week, Crime Stoppers is highlighting our campaign to combat the fentanyl crisis, by offering a minimum reward of $1,500 for information leading to the arrest of anyone dealing fentanyl.

According to the Illinois Department of Public Health, overdose deaths have trended upward since 2013. However, Illinois saw an 8.3% decline in overall drug overdose deaths in 2023, with synthetic opioid fatalities decreasing by 9.5%.

In Sangamon County, overdose deaths declined for the first time in seven years. Last year, there were 80 accidental overdose deaths, compared to 90 the previous year. Of those 80 deaths, 24 involved fentanyl.  Through continued collaboration with law enforcement and community partners, Crime Stoppers remains committed to removing this dangerous drug from our streets and improving public safety.

If you have information about fentanyl activity or any crime, call Crime Stoppers anonymously at 217-788-8427, submit a tip online, or use the P3 app. Tips leading to an arrest may be eligible for a cash reward of up to $2,500. Remember: we want your information, not your name.
