Crime of the Week:  Help needed identifying suspect in recent string of thefts

Springfield, IL (CAPITOL CITY NOW) – This week, Crime Stoppers is seeking information to assist the Springfield Police Department to identify an individual in reference to a theft and unlawful use of credit cards.

On October 13, 2025, officers received a report of a wallet being left at a local store and when the victim went back, it had been stolen, and the credit cards were used at various businesses around Springfield.  The suspect, who appears to be a black female made several purchases in town.

If you have any information regarding this incident or can identify the suspect, call Crime Stoppers anonymously at 217-788-8427, submit a tip on our website, or use the P3 app. If your tip results in an arrest you could receive a cash reward up to $2,500.
