SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (CAPITOL CITY NOW) – This week, Crime Stoppers is seeking information to help the Springfield Police Department to identify two individuals in reference to a theft.

On October 14, two women had their wallets stolen while shopping in Springfield. The stolen credit cards were then used around town to make large purchases, totaling over $6,000.00.

This incident is an important reminder to protect yourself from pickpockets while shopping. Keep purses zipped and close to your body, never leave wallets unattended in shopping carts, and be aware of anyone standing unusually close or attempting to distract you. Pickpockets often take advantage of busy stores and distracted shoppers.

Images of the suspect can be found above, and on our website. Anyone with information about this incident call Crime Stoppers at 217-788-8427.

If your tip results in an arrest, you could receive a cash reward of up to $2,500.

Remember, Crime Stoppers only wants your information, not your name.
