Coroner identifies Springfield woman stabbed to death on Shadowfax Drive

Springfield, IL  (CAPITOL CITY NOW) – Sangamon County Coroner Jim Allmon has released the identity of the 51-year-old Springfield woman who died after being stabbed in a home in the 3000 block of Shadowfax Drive. Police responded to the 911 call just after midnight Sunday morning. Misty Long was transported by EMS to Springfield Memorial Hospital but was pronounced dead at 1:15 a.m.

Preliminary autopsy results indicate she died from multiple sharp force injuries. Long’s 16-year-old son was arrested following an investigation by Springfield Police detectives and the crime scene unit. He faces charges of first-degree murder, aggravated domestic battery, aggravated battery, and unlawful use of a weapon. The teen was taken to a juvenile detention facility. The death remains under investigation.
