Clinton woman killed in DeWitt County crash identified

Kenney, IL (WAND) – A woman killed in a crash in DeWitt County Tuesday night has been identified.

The DeWitt County Coroner said a woman, later identified as 45-year-old Leinaala Schmidt of Clinton, was driving east on Route 54 when she did not negotiate a curve, left the road and hit a tree.

Schmidt was pronounced dead at the scene at 9:05 p.m.

The coroner’s office said that Schmidt died from multiple blunt force injuries.

The crash is under investigation by the DeWitt County Sheriff’s Department and the Illinois State Police.
