Springfield, IL (CAPITOL CITY NOW) – A man from Chatham is in custody for his alleged role in breaking into a Springfield business and stealing an estimated $20,000 in collectibles.

According to the Sangamon County Sheriff’s Department, the U.S. Marshals Violent Fugitive Task Force arrested Tyler Hulcher, 34, Wednesday, on a warrant issued December 12 charging him with Burglary, Theft, and Criminal Damage to Property.  He’s currently in the Sangamon County Jail.

The department said Hulcher has at least ten prior arrests on his record for drug, alcohol, and criminal damage incidents.

Sheriff’s deputies responded to 217 Comics, Cards, and Games, 1820 Stevenson Drive, around 4:55 a.m. December 4.  Deputies say two suspects allegedly forced entry into the building and stole $20,000 worth of sports trading cards.

Officials say the investigation is continuing, as deputies are working to identifying the second suspect.

Hulcher is believed to be awaiting a detention hearing.  Online court records are not yet available.

“The Sangamon County Sheriff’s Office would like to thank the Sangamon County State’s Attorney’s Office, the United States Marshals, and Sangamon & Menard County Crime Stoppers for their assistance in this case,” said a news release.
