Springfield, IL (CAPITOL CITY NOW) – More details are being made available about a weekend fatal accident in Springfield that involved a pedestrian and an Illinois State Police squad car.

Sangamon County Coroner Jim Allmon, on Monday, identified the victim as Charles Henderson, 45.

Henderson was believed to be bending over in the road near 6th and Linton early Saturday when a State Trooper’s squad car struck him.  He was pronounced dead at the hospital, and Allmon says an autopsy Monday indicated the cause of death was multiple blunt force injuries.

Illinois State Police is continuing an internal investigation into the accident and has not identified the trooper.
