2-year-old girl rescued after falling into Lake Petersburg

Petersburg, IL (WAND) – A two-year-old girl is recovering after she fell into Lake Petersburg Thursday morning.

The Menard County Sheriff’s Office said that it received a call just after 10 a.m. about a young girl who had fallen into Lake Petersburg and wasn’t breathing.

The Sheriff’s Office stated that CPR was being done at the scene.

First responders arrived and found the girl and her guardians near the shoreline.

She managed to respond to a deputy at the scene, who then quickly took her to an ambulance, according to the Sheriff’s Office.

The girl was then taken to a Springfield hospital and is said to be in stable condition.
