13-year-old boy dies after being hit by a car in Pana

Pana, IL (WAND) – A 13-year-old boy has died after being hit by a car in Pana Monday night.

The Pana Police Department said it happened just after 9:30 p.m. in the 500 block of South Poplar Street.

Police arrived to find the boy dead in the road with a car driven by a 16-year-old girl stopped in front of him.

During an investigation, Pana police said the car slowed to a stop before beginning to pull away as the boy tried to get back into the car.

He was then hit by the car as it pulled forward.

The driver immediately stopped to call 911.

The incident remains under investigation.
