1 hurt after shooting near Millikin University, others hurt in weekend shooting elsewhere in Decatur

Decatur, IL (WAND) – A man is in the hospital after being shot near Millikin University Friday night.

The Decatur Police Department told WAND that officers responded around 11:22 p.m. in the 1000 block of W. Main Street, near the parking lot of The Winery bar.

According to police, the man got into a verbal altercation when he was shot. He was taken to the hospital and is expected to be okay.

Police are still looking for the shooter. Anyone with information can call DPD at 217-424-2711.

Police are investigating after three people were hit by gunfire on the north side of Decatur Sunday afternoon.

The Decatur Police Department had the corner of North Union Street and West Sawyer Street blocked off just before 2 p.m., and officers were investigating.

The department told WAND that three people were hit, but their statuses are unknown.

Neighbors on the scene said bullets hit their home.

The incident is still under investigation. WAND is working to learn more.
