A man who appeared to be stealing a work truck at a rural Christian County residence early Monday morning is dead. Around 5 a.m., a woman and her daughter were leaving the home and noticed a work truck in the driveway was running. She called a man inside the residence, who then came out with a firearm.

Illinois State Police say 46-year-old James Lindsey was inside the work truck and rammed the woman’s vehicle, pushing it across the driveway. The resident allegedly shot and killed Lindsey, who was still inside the work truck.

No charges are filed at time and the case remains under investigation.
