A central Illinois man has been sentenced to 75 years in prison for stabbing his ex-girlfriend to death.

42-year-old Michael Yost was sentenced Friday.

He had been found guilty of first-degree murder in the March 2015 death of Sheri Randall of Sullivan, 25 miles southeast of Decatur.

Prosecutors say she was stabbed 15 times and was found beside Yost in her apartment in Sullivan.

Yost was also wounded and was hospitalized for a collapsed lung.

He testified at trial that he remembered very little of what happened.
