Chicago elected officials are launching a task force to coordinate legal, health, and employment services for immigrants and refugees in the city.

Mayor Rahm Emanuel announced the task force Tuesday with U.S. Sen. Dick Durbin and U.S. Rep. Luis Gutierrez. The task force includes aldermen, immigrant rights groups and labor organizations.

The move is the city’s latest effort to beef up immigrant protections in the wake of Donald Trump’s election. The Republican president-elect campaigned on an aggressive approach to immigration, including pledges to deport millions.

Emanuel says Chicago will continue to be a welcoming place for immigrants. Last week he announced the creation of a legal fund for those facing deportation. The city has been a sanctuary city for decades.
