A bobcat kitten hit by a car last month as she crossed a southern Indiana road with her mother and a sibling is on the mend following surgery at the University of Illinois.
Surgeons at the university’s College of Veterinary Medicine in Urbana repaired the bobcat’s fractured pelvis during a three-hour surgery last week.
The native wildcat was struck Nov. 24 along a road near Bloomington, Indiana, and turned over to the care of WildCare Inc., a local wildlife rehabilitation center.
University wildlife clinic medical director Julia Whittington says there’s a good chance the kitten can be reunited with her mother and sister once she recovers.
