This year, the 35th Annual Vietnam Veterans 24 -hour vigil will encompass all of the war memorials at Oak Ridge Cemetary, and it will also pay tribute to those who lost their lives in the Civil War. Vietnam veteran Jim Mathes, appearing on the WTAX Morning Newswatch, says they are looking to have at least 580 people participate this year by forming a large circle around all of the war memorials.  The memorial will be lit for 24 hours starting at noon May 7th, and a guard will circle the memorial as a tribute for the duration of the vigil.
