2 Illinois Bands Nominated for Rock & Roll Hall of Fame

Cheap Trick

Two bands with their roots in Illinois have been nominated for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

“Chicago” and Rockford’s Cheap Trick are among eight first-time nominees for induction next year. Artists are eligible 25 years after their first music is released.

The other first-timers include Janet Jackson, Steve Miller, Chaka Khan and The Cars.

More than 800 artists and members of the music industry vote on the inductees, who will be announced in December. Fans can also vote on the rock hall’s website toward a “fan’s ballot” that will also be counted.

The Cleveland-based hall generally inducts five performers a year.
