Traffic patterns change on North Dirksen Parkway

Springfield, IL (IDOT) – The Illinois Department of Transportation is announcing the next phase of the $5.5 million improvement project on North Dirksen Parkway from North Peoria Road to Northfield Drive in Springfield.

Dirksen Parkway between North Peoria Road and Terminal Road will reopen to southbound traffic and close to northbound traffic. ​ A detour will be posted utilizing Sangamon Avenue and North Peoria Road.

The improvements include resurfacing, traffic signal upgrades and ADA improvements. Benefits from this project include safety improvements and a smoother driving surface. The project is expected to be completed in early August. ​
