UPDATE: 11th Street fire contained; three people inside at time of fire

Springfield, IL  (CAPITOL CITY NOW) – The fire at 11th Street and Phillips Avenue has been successfully contained, and 11th Street has reopened to traffic. The Springfield Fire Department reports at the time of the incident, three individuals were inside the abandoned property where the fire originated.

An investigation is currently underway, and further details concerning their status or involvement are not available at this time. The Public Works Department has conducted a full assessment of the property involved in the fire and has identified it as posing an imminent danger.
