UPDATE:  Tentative deal between teachers union, Dist. 186

Springfield, IL (CAPITOL CITY NOW) – Negotiations between District 186 and the Springfield Education Association have produced a tentative deal.

The union says a ratification meeting is scheduled for Tuesday at Southeast High School.  This comes after as many as two meetings this week with a federal mediator.

The District 186 Board will also meet on Tuesday at their administrative headquarters.  Their meeting starts with a closed-door executive session at 5pm, which an open meeting at 6:15pm.

The first day of school is a week from Monday.

Union members have flooded school board meetings in recent weeks, urging a deal to be reached.
